Astronauts (Jake Gyllenhaal, Rebecca Ferguson, Ryan Reynolds) aboard the International Space Station are on the cutting edge of one of the most important discoveries in human history: the first evidence of extraterrestrial life on Mars. As members of the crew conduct their research, the rapidly evolving life-form proves far more intelligent and terrifying than anyone could have imagined.
I’ve heard this was... really, really not good. And that Ryan is kinda massively wasted despite being the most likeable and entertaining character
A lot of people I think criticized the film for being very unoriginal and being derivative of Alien. I personally thought that while it was very unoriginal, it was still well shot, well acted, and a rather tense film. I think the "zero gravity" camera work was great and it made you feel a participant in the adventure almost. Calvin was also a great villain and I think it was just just a fun, killer alien movie that did it's job. It was significantly better than Alien: Covenant to say the least.

I wouldn't say they wasted him... but rather knew that they had to consider his Deadpool 2 filming schedule and decided to utilize him as best they could with the time had with him
This had some aspects I liked (Ryan and Jake's characters mainly), but it felt kinda clunky and all over the place. The ending was really bad too. It just felt kinda poorly written and boring at times.
I remember wanting to see this, but then being told not to bother by... almost everyone.

So I never did!
