Grace (Nicole Kidman), the devoutly religious mother of Anne (Alakina Mann) and Nicholas (James Bentley), moves her family to the English coast during World War II. She awaits word on her missing husband while protecting her children from a rare photosensitivity disease that causes the sun to harm them. Anne claims she sees ghosts, Grace initially thinks the new servants are playing tricks but chilling events and visions make her believe something supernatural has occurred.

  Ferdinand the Bull (1939)

This Oscar-winning short tells of a bull who preferred to sit under trees and smell flowers to clashing horns with his fellow animals. As luck would have it, an untimely bee reveals Ferdinand’s ferocious side via pained howls and wild stomping. This lands him in the bull-fighting arena amidst characters based on Walt’s animators with a matador reportedly modeled after Walt himself.

  Captain Marvel (2019)

Captain Marvel (2019)

Rated PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and brief suggestive language

Quote:Captain Marvel is an extraterrestrial Kree warrior who finds herself caught in the middle of an intergalactic battle between her people and the Skrulls. Living on Earth in 1995, she keeps having recurring memories of another life as U.S. Air Force pilot Carol Danvers. With help from Nick Fury, Captain Marvel tries to uncover the secrets of her past while harnessing her special superpowers to end the war with the evil Skrulls.

It wasn't as memorable as Wonder Woman, but it's still a very good movie that exemplifies the best qualities of the Marvel machine: good casting, fun one-liners, solid action, and lots of fun nostalgic throwbacks. I can think of ways that this movie could've been elevated from good to great (one big one in particular: setting it in the 2000s instead might've made the themes of the twist hit harder), but overall, it's exactly the safe but very fun movie we all hoped for.

My full review is here.

  Assumptions. (Part 1)
Posted by: GoneWasAnyTrace - 03-17-2019, 02:12 AM - Forum: General Writing - No Replies

Assumptions. (THE BEGINNING)

ASSUMPTIONS (DREAM ON)
Verse 1

It’s safe to assume power
Safe to assume knowledge
Safe to assume the best and the worst
Best and the worst
Safe to assume detachment
Safe to give up Atlantis
Safe to assume we’re going under Earth
Underneath Earth

Verse 2
Safe to assume we’re downers
Safe to rely on chauffeurs
Safe to assume this place absurd
But you’ll carry me home, I keep your word
Safe to assume our eyes glazed
Not safe to take it personally
I think the stars work in the opposite way
Attract what you delay

Chorus
Everything I want is worth giving up for

Verse 3
Safe to assume we’re pluto
We keep drifting in our thoughts
Safe to assume we’re mercury
We keep dying like the stars
Safe to keep the heat combusted
For everyone else, not us
How many light years do you think is too far?

Bridge
Hey, I got a lot of assumptions I could make
Facts are heads filled with linked thoughts
Hey, I got a lot of assumptions I could make
I can list them without a defining answer for all
Hey, I got a lot of assumptions I could make
No harm not giving my desires dreams they want
But just dream on, dream on, dream on
Remember Vienna always says
Dream on, dream on, dream on
Remember Paris flew away
We’re too small, too small, too small
There’s a lot of assumptions I can make
I think if the sun comes up heaven glowed today

FANTASY IS DEPRESSED
Chorus 1

I think fantasy is depressed
He’s getting in his head
Getting in his head, he’s getting in his head
Anybody listening? The whole world slept

Verse 1
He’s a mile in his dreams, two steps when he’s asleep
He’s a plague consuming city, but alas a quarantine
He’s a real superstar, but I heard that guy can’t sing

Chorus 2
I think fantasy is depressed
Watch how he treats his friends
Picks them like a hobby, joins them like sororities
Then one by one, walks the plank to get lynched

Chorus 3
I think fantasy is depressed
Insecure is his style, he’s best dressed
The rumors around him are guests
“I don’t think he went here...don’t think he did that”
He’s such a self-taught narcissist
His childhood his history lesson
I think fantasy is depressed

Bridge
Fantasy
I wish you could see how beautiful you are
Stop taking a step backwards in the dark
Fantasy
You’re a chandelier spinning
Your diamonds gleaming

Refrain
Come back out honey
Come back out to me
Come back out honey
Come back out to me

Verse 3
Can you ever sense someone’s loneliness?
Never can be sure, but we tried our best
Kicking stones into the rivers
Karma always bounced back, power through a ghost nap
Can’t look at you sleepy eyes, such a narcissist
Fantasy what’s real is better than this

Outro
Come back out honey
Come back out to me
Come back out honey
Come back out to me
Come back out honey (Come back, come back)
Come back out to me (Come back daydream)
Come back out honey (Come back, come back)
Come back out to me (Come back daydream)

NEVER IN RHYTHM
Verse 1

Every time I swipe my card there’s no access
Every time I love someone they’re detached
And I never keep rhythm in a contest
I’m never in the rhythm, never in the-

Chorus 1
When thunderclouds try to turn the sky down
My heartbeat keeps the pulse of the ground

Verse 2
Under a microscope of our illusion
Controlled object of delusion
Never in the rhythm moving

Verse 3
Every time I retreat back to my escape
A fortitude of endless, pointless thinking
I have no control, an abyss of second-guessing
I’m never in the rhythm, never in the-

Chorus 2
When oceans try to swallow summers grown
Icicles of souls melt down to the soles

Verse 4
Under a microscope of our illusion
Controlled object of delusion
Never in the rhythm moving
Never in the rhythm, let’s move

Bridge
We could go somewhere West
Somewhere lonely
Where mountains could use
Landslides to fall on
Somewhere useful
Somewhere good for hiding days
Where quiet nights must have
A stroke of lucky

Refrain
Cause I’m never in the rhythm moving
Never in the rhythm
I’m never in the-

Bridge 2
We could leave New York
No man needs a country
Just a piece of state… of a heart
That’s yours, now mine

Outro
When oceans try to swallow summers grown
Icicles of souls melt down to the soles
We’re somewhere West
Somewhere homely
Where mountains have
Landslides to fall on
Rolling insanity to sea
Somewhere good for hiding days
Somewhere in the rhythm moving
Ah-ah, let’s ride
Somewhere in the rhythm moving

CIRCLES IN SKULLS
Verse 1

Trickling like sewage
My emotions leaked
And my heart’s ticked off
Are you bombard while asleep?
My head games heavy
How many rounds in a lifetime?
How many hours will it take
For our trains to cross the same time?
Only can go through this vision
Alcoholic independence
When are you gonna grow up, wisdom?

Chorus
Fuck off in October
Hated you in November
Finally cried in December
Made up for January
Kissed you goodbye February
I left again for only three weeks
Back in time for spring

Verse 2
Feeling the air
Hypnotic vision
Of circles, circles, circles
Of your skull
Your gentle eyes, your harsh mouth
I contradict myself
How many rounds in a lifetime?
Blocked cause I wasn’t honest
I didn’t keep to my promise
I swear you’re not despaired
I think I’m substituting romance for lack of care

Chorus
Fuck off in October
Hated you in November
Finally cried in December
Made up for January
Kissed you goodbye February
I left again for only three weeks
Back in time for spring

Bridge
By now you know I’m not a one track story
I don’t follow society, I tend to my own needs
We’re blessings
Saw you as deceitful, now you’re my teacher
I think it’s cause of all the effort I put in to love
I can’t give that up, circles, circles, circles
Round my skull

Chorus
Fuck off in October
Hated you in November
Finally cried in December
Made up for January
Kissed you goodbye February
I left again for only three weeks
Back in time for spring

Outro
Oh my God, there you go thinking about me
My intuition is too deep
Oh my God, you remind me of the smell of a burning feeling
My intuition is too deep
What is this? What is this? What is this?
What’s the year? How’s the time? Where’s the place?
