Wes Craven's New Nightmare (1994)

It's nearing the 10th Anniversary of the film 'A Nightmare on Elm Street' and one of the stars, Heather Langenkamp is being scared by a voice on a phone, sounding very similar to the film's villain, Freddy Krueger. When Heather's husband is killed in a car accident and is discovered with slash marks on him, Heather starts to wonder something. Especially when she discovers that Wes Craven is writing another 'Nightmare' film. Soon, she realizes that Freddy has now entered the real world, and the only way to defeat him is to become Nancy Thompson once again.

This is pretty great all around. Heather is a fantastic lead, really like the concept + Robert englund, taps into the madness of the 80s & the craze of Freddy as a horror icon, also definitely the blueprint for some future horrors/fan scripts.

Why is everyone so ready to think the worst is over?

It's been awhile since I've seen this, but it was pretty great. The concept itself is genius and original. The commentary on filmmaking and horror is stellar, and it's basically a proto-Scream. The characters are likeable and well-written. You've got some genuinely creepy bits. I really only have one major complaint... the kills. They are just not there. I would've liked more creativity on that level.

Like Repo said, my only real complaint about this movie are the kills. Everything else is quite great.

NOES is known for it's creative deaths so it's pretty notable when this one lacks that tbh.

Is there anything better than a natural disaster?
The panic, the people lost in the streets. It`s like picking fruit off the vine.
