Aquaman (2018)
Rated PG-13 for sequences of sci-fi violence and action, and for some language

Quote:Once home to the most advanced civilization on Earth, the city of Atlantis is now an underwater kingdom ruled by the power-hungry King Orm. With a vast army at his disposal, Orm plans to conquer the remaining oceanic people -- and then the surface world. Standing in his way is Aquaman, Orm's half-human, half-Atlantean brother and true heir to the throne. With help from royal counselor Vulko, Aquaman must retrieve the legendary Trident of Atlan and embrace his destiny as protector of the deep.
So... anyone still think that a superhero whose powers include talking to fish is "funny"? This was the final movie I saw in 2018, and while I wouldn't call it as good as Wonder Woman, I'd still say it's a lot better than I think most of us were afraid it would be. It was basically The Fast and the Furious, underwater, combined with Dragon Ball -- an orgy of special effects, amazing action scenes, fantasy worlds, globe-trotting adventure, and rugged (and non-toxic) masculinity that's kinda dumb, but in the endearing way of a good modern Hollywood blockbuster. I was surprised at how good Jason Momoa was as Aquaman given that I was less-than-impressed with him in Justice League, and even better, he was surrounded with a great supporting cast, especially Amber Heard. Talk about a simple good time at the movies.
