Night of the Living Dead is a 1968 black-and-white American independent horror film directed by George A. Romero, starring Duane Jones, Judith O'Dea and Karl Hardman. It premiered on October 1, 1968, and was completed on a US $114,000 budget. The radiation from a fallen satellite might have caused the recently deceased to rise from the grave and seek the living to use as food. This is the situation that a group of people penned up in an old farmhouse must deal with.

We have a payload to deliver to the heart of our nearest star. We are delivering that payload cause that star is dying and, if it dies, we die, everything dies. So that is our mission, there is nothing, literally nothing, more important than completing our mission. End of story.

This is a pretty good film, especially since I loathe zombie films.

We are all in strung-out shape, but stay frosty, and alert. We cannot afford to let one of those bastards in here.

I really like zombie movies, and this easily stands out as one of the best. Great movie, and points for creating an entire subgenre.

My fave Zombie movie for sure. has a super creepy atmosphere and I love the use of shadows and B&W film. So impressive it had the first Black HERO in a film, not to mention a wide range of female characters, and inventing Zombie movies.

Ser Jaime Lannister. On the breast of his tunic, the lion of his House was embroidered in gold thread, roaring its defiance. they called him the Lion of Lannister to his face and whispered “Kingslayer” behind his back. Jon found it hard to look away from him. “This is what a king should look like”, he thought to himself as he passed

I’d probably say #2 behind Dawn. 28 Days Later is up there too.

It amazes me that the remake doesn’t get more flack for replacing a black final boy (and proooobably the first black final boy/hero/lead in a horror movie?) with a white final girl. There’s still a shortage of he formter and there certainly isn’t one of the latter.

Then again, I think a later remake made Ben white. So, uh, lol.
