Zombies rule the world, except for a small group of scientists and military personnel who reside in an underground bunker in Florida. The scientists are using the undead in gruesome experiments; much to the chagrin of the military. Finally the military finds that their men have been used in the scientists' experiments, and banish the scientists to the caves that house the Living Dead. Unfortunately, the zombies from above ground have made their way into the bunker.

We have a payload to deliver to the heart of our nearest star. We are delivering that payload cause that star is dying and, if it dies, we die, everything dies. So that is our mission, there is nothing, literally nothing, more important than completing our mission. End of story.

The effects and main villain for this one are all awesome.

Ser Jaime Lannister. On the breast of his tunic, the lion of his House was embroidered in gold thread, roaring its defiance. they called him the Lion of Lannister to his face and whispered “Kingslayer” behind his back. Jon found it hard to look away from him. “This is what a king should look like”, he thought to himself as he passed

x2. I also liked Bub and that concept some. Definitely a step down from Night/Dawn, though, but it's decent

This is probably my least favorite of the original Living Dead trilogy, but that's pretty faint criticism and a testament to what a roll Romero was on back then, because I still really enjoyed it. The gore effects were unbelievable, the "domesticated zombie" Bub was creative and got one of the best moments in the film, and while the satire of the military is very much a product of its post-Vietnam time (hence why it's harder to relate to now compared to Night and Dawn), it did create a compelling storyline and tension between the soldiers and the civilian scientists.

I think my biggest issue with this one are that the characters are pretty weak. Night and Dawn had some really compelling casts and amazing characters, especially Dawn. For this, Rhodes is HILARIOUSLY over the top evil and deranged, and then Bub is genuinely interesting... and that's about it. I didn't care tons for anyone else. I think better characters would go a long way in regard to making this movie work.
