Quote:Based on the centuries-old poem, a family moves into a secluded mansion where they soon find themselves being targeted by an entity taking the form of a giant spider.

I like the cast they have for this, and I loved Eight Legged Freaks, the movie that Popcorn Frights is comparing this to for their screening next month. I may think that spiders are cool, but I know several people who are terrified of them, and this looks right up their alley.

We have a payload to deliver to the heart of our nearest star. We are delivering that payload cause that star is dying and, if it dies, we die, everything dies. So that is our mission, there is nothing, literally nothing, more important than completing our mission. End of story.

No, seriously, I think I did. I was actually reminded of The Babadook a bit while watching this; it's a giant spider movie, yes, but it's wonderfully woven in with a domestic drama about a mother who's struggling to raise her kids. I genuinely cared for all of the characters, and was afraid that any of them could die -- and because the "giant spider" side of the movie was just as well done, I really did think that any of them might just bite it. This is one of the best monster/killer animal movies in recent memory, and another candidate for "best in show".

My reviews of this and other films from Day 3 of Popcorn Frights are here.
