Thoroughbreds (2018)
Thoroughbreds (2018)

Rated R for disturbing behavior, bloody images, language, sexual references, and some drug content

Quote:Two upper-class teenage girls in suburban Connecticut rekindle their unlikely friendship after years of growing apart. Together, they hatch a plan to solve both of their problems -- no matter what the cost.

The Heathers comparisons in this movie weren't subtle, but this is definitely its own beast -- and, if I do say so myself, a damn great one. It's got a great cast, a twisted plot, beautiful direction and visual design, and some burning satire of its privileged main characters, who both realize that they can get away with far more than most people can because of their wealth and don't realize just how petty their problems really are. My missing this when it first came out was simply my own damn fault (I badly underestimated the traffic around the Aventura Mall), but the fact that this movie vanished from theaters so quickly? For shame. I loved it.

My full review is here.
