The Shattered Medallion is the 30th installment in the Nancy Drew point-and-click adventure game series by Her Interactive. No One is Immune to Sudden Death on this Reality TV Show! Ever since the Secret of the Scarlet Hand, the eccentric Sonny Joon always seemed a step ahead of Nancy Drew. That changes when Nancy and George travel to New Zealand and compete in the hit reality TV contest, Pacific Run. Sonny runs the show, but it’s spiraling out of control. We have a payload to deliver to the heart of our nearest star. We are delivering that payload cause that star is dying and, if it dies, we die, everything dies. So that is our mission, there is nothing, literally nothing, more important than completing our mission. End of story.

Guy.

This was a disaster. I really don’t get how. Sunny Joon as a character should be fun. Reality TV is an awesome gimmick. New Zealand is a great setting. This should’ve been an easy one to make fun, entertaining, and lighthearted. Even the characters could’ve written themselves by being a couple of funny parodies of reality TV personality archetypes.

But instead we got an incoherent mess. I don’t even know what I’d compare it to. It’s like if you met a schizophrenic conspiracy theorist who scribbled 2000 theories all over one napkin that are tangentially connected. The whole thing just has no focus and a truly baffling plot. The fact these characters are insufferably cryptic over a reality show makes it even worse. I got more straight answers in a game about espionage, spies, and ecp-terrorism.
