Predator (1987)

A team of special force ops, led by a tough but fair soldier, Major "Dutch" Schaefer, are ordered in to assist CIA man, George Dillon, on a rescue mission for potential survivors of a Helicopter downed over remote South American jungle. Not long after they land, Dutch and his team discover that they have been sent in under false pretenses. This deception turns out to be the least of their worries though, when they find themselves being methodically hunted by something not of this world.

Do you know what it`s like to be told how lucky you are to be someone`s prisoner?

I watched this for the first time yesterday in anticipation of the new movie coming out, and overall, despite a few minor issues, I really enjoyed it. It was Ahnold at his '80s peak fighting an equally badass alien alongside a squad of tough guys, all with John McTiernan at the helm delivering some great action, buildup, and tension. Overall, it's a rightful classic of action/horror.

My full review is here.

Definitely a fun action-horror movie, with an awesome and badass cast (my favorite being, by far, Blaine). None of the sequels have come close, and a good portion of them aren't even watchable.

Statistical fact: Cops will never pull over a man with a huge bong in his car. Why?
They fear this man. They know he sees further than they and he will bind them with ancient logic.

Society is binding. Right? It’s filling in the cracks with concrete. Everything’s filed or reported, logged, right?
Chips in our kids heads so they won’t get lost. Society needs to crumble. We’re all just too chicken shit to let it.

I LOVED the article about how the film deconstructs toxic masc and uses the kills/Predator to mock that. Definitely earns some more points in my book

It was definitely an interesting read. I love movies with themes/messages hidden but i wasn't expecting a movie like this to have that
